Samsung Confirms Plans To Sell Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and the tragid that followed the device needs no formal introduction. The device was no doubt, a promising one till it got short lived courtesy of it’s batteries exploding.

This created a lot of buzz and possibly pointed a wrong figure at the brand. The brand indeed didn’t denial the situation. Instead, they worked a possible solution.

First being having to recall the devices. This didn’t turn out to be a lasting one as even the safe units weren’t entirely safe from exploding.

Next, Samsung deemed it fit to stop production of the Galaxy Note 7 and also discontinue the device. The company advised owners to return the device and opt in for a possibly downgrade or upgrade to the upcoming Galaxy S8.

Samsung plans selling refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Few days back, there were reports that Samsung plans to finally pull off the plug on the Galaxy Note 7. By so doing, the device will become useless even for those who refused or are unable to return their units.

However, Samsung has officially confirmed that the ruin of the Galaxy Note 7 isn’t gonna be wiped out just like that. This time, the South Korean company plans selling the device as refurbished.

Samsung Electronics Confirms Plans To Sell The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 As Refurbished

Samsung Electronies have devised three ways in which it can recycle the Galaxy Note 7 device in the most environment friendly manner:

  • First, devices shall be considered to be used as refurbished phones or rental phones where applicable.
  • Second, salvageable components shall be detached for reuse.
  • Third, processes such as metals extraction shall be performed using environmentally friendly methods.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices will be considered to be used as refurbished or rental devices ‘where applicable’.

According to Samsung Electronics:

“Regarding the Galaxy Note 7 devices as refurbished phones or rental phones, applicability is dependent upon consultations with regulatory authorities and carriers as well as due consideration of local demand,”

These refurbished note 7 will likely packed a smaller 3,000 to 3,200mAh battery. This is said to aim at preventing any heat issues. It’d be worthy of note that the original packs 3500mAh battery.
