Blackberry Releases Official Images Of The Upcoming Priv Android Phone

It’s no longer news that Blackberry will be releasing an android phone before the end of this year. Based on past records of sales, the company hasn’t been doing well as it was recorded that only 800,000 phones were sold in the last quarter. This report isn’t even up to half of what Microsoft’s Lumia sold within same period and this has lead to the company going for an alternative.

Over the past few months, we have constantly been fed leaked images of the upcoming priv device and although Blackberry’s CEO, John Chew had showed off the new phone in an interview, Blackberry has officially released images of the upcoming blackberry priv (previously Venice) smartphone.

The meaning behind the Priv name has been given and it explains thus:

privacy IS a fast-disappearing privilege in the modern world. The same goes for productivity. Somewhere along the way, most smartphones evolved from tools into toys, with vendors prioritizing fun over work. With PRIV’s software enhancements, physical keyboard and oversized screen, all enabled by the slider form factor, we’re bringing privacy, productivity, and, oh yes, some sexy, back.

No further information has been given in regards pricing and availability and I am guessing this is a motive to keep people very much interested.

  • Yes [email protected],let’s keep on hoping..Cos the story with sliding tones is DAT when d flex spoils once someone will need to keep on repairing and repairing cos no new one will last like d one that came with the phone

  • @ Obende Oladele Faithful, My Point Exactly. This slider is not Welcomed by everyone due to Past Issues. I remembered my last slider phone, issues all the time. But I think this Blackberry Priv Android Phone shouldn’t have Sliding issues. We could Only Hope…

  • Wow! A Perfect comeback from Blackberry After Being on the sidelines for long. This inturn Could Yield Good Results. But I Think The Slider is a total Bad idea. Because in the past Sliding phones Were just a major Disappointment. However, Nice One From Blackberry. Patiently waiting for this High – End Gadget.

  • As an android smartphone user, if you have been looking for that perfect android phone with a physical keyboard then the PRIV has got what you need. This is a welcome development from blackberry to aid many android users.

  • This. blackberry android smartphone would bring about privacy and productivity. The core mission of this smartphone is to protect the privacy of blackberry customers

  • With the release of this new blackberry andorid smartphone there would be hope of high sales to cover up low amount of sales this year as the revenue for the quarter ending was dissapointing this year.

  • I would have loved it if the phone was’nt a slide phone. Lets if they’re gonna get improved sales with ‘Blackberry Priv’

  • Nice phone, nice concept, the querty pad is an added advantage cos some people prefer phones like that but I still maintain my stand in the slide issue
